About Us

We are Nova Productions and we are a family business that offers several different services in the sound and entertaining field. Our services offer, Radio Style Disc Jocking, Live Sound and Lighting Reinforcement, Sound and Lighting Installations, and in some situations Rentals. Our business consists of three primary members. Randy Schlegel, Adam Schlegel, and Jonah Schlegel. We are a Father and two sons that banded together to combine their talents and what they love to do into a small business. Although these three members are the heart and soul of this business, they cannot be as successful as they are without the help of the rest of their family. Randy “The Mayor of Music” Schlegel started his music career by following his father’s footsteps. His father, Roy Schlegel, was one of the first Electric Bassist in the area. Because of this, Roy was able to play back-up for several country music artists. Randy was able to go with Roy to some of these gigs and just loved the music and really wanted to be on stage with his pop. So Randy taught himself to play the guitar and by the time he was in high school he was able to start a band, “The Royal Cavaliers”. The Royal Cavaliers played for several high school dances and even went to a recording studio to record some music. The producer like their music and wanted to make a record deal, however this deal would have cost them money that they did not have. The Royal Cavaliers declined and continued to play in the area. When Randy graduated high school, he decided to go to Radio school in Washington DC. While there he learned about the Radio Industry. When he came back home he worked for WHOL on 1600 AM. After several years of working Radio and starting his family and Randy decided to go into the Electrical Business. Although his Radio career may have come to an end, his passion for music and radio did not die. He started to jock High school dances and other events. His love for music lived on through him as well as his family. Randy still jocks music in his radio style with introducing the songs, playing jingles, and keeping the crowd informed and entertained. Randy enjoys music trivia, and reminiscing with others on music from the past. Randy’s oldest son, Adam, also wanted to follow in his father footsteps and become a musician. Adam learned how to play the drums and worked with several different bands throughout his career. However playing was not enough. He then started to work at music stores and giving drum lessons as well as researching into different brands of music equipment and familiarized himself with what is out there. No matter what he did, music was some part of it. Adam’s part with Nova is working with the Live Sound and Lighting as well as assist with some set-up’s. In 1998, Randy’s third son, Jonah, started assisting him on some of his gigs. At first Jonah just helped carry the equipment and find the cassette tapes or CD’s that needed to be queued. Jonah started then helping with the set-up and worked up to help assisting on the gigs and communicating with the guests to be sure that everything is going to their standards and be sure things go as planned. He then started to invest in the business and helped with purchasing new equipment that not only would help with the set-up but also be able to do larger gigs. Jonah now works in the electrical field and works with the equipment to be sure everything is in working order. During set-up and tear-downs, Jonah is the point person. He understands how each event will be different and have different needs and is capable of adjusting the set-up to accommodate these needs. During the event, Jonah is either on stage assisting with the band with sound checks, backstage with the next group preparing for their performance, or at the front of the stage assisting with sound mixing or controlling the lights.
